Paul Nash Named Senior Deputy Comptroller and Chief of Staff at the OCC

WASHINGTON — Comptroller of the Currency Thomas J. Curry announced today that Paul Nash will succeed John Walsh as Senior Deputy Comptroller and Chief of Staff.  Mr. Walsh has announced that he is retiring this summer.

"For six and a half years, John has been a mainstay of the OCC’s Executive Committee," said Mr. Curry.  "He also admirably served for 18 months as Acting Comptroller during a particularly challenging time for the agency.  Since I joined the OCC last month, John has been an incredible source of information and advice to me."

Mr. Nash will join the OCC on May 21st.  He has been the Deputy to the Chairman for External Affairs at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation since March 2009.  In that role, he oversaw the agency’s Office of Legislative Affairs, the Office of the Ombudsman, and the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion.

"Paul brings a wealth of public and private sector experience to the OCC," said Mr. Curry.  "I know that Paul will bring additional insight and strength to the OCC’s already strong leadership team."

Mr. Nash received a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1992 and BA degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in International Relations and History in 1988.  He and his wife Michelle live in Fairfax with their four children.
