Climate change presents risks to the financial system. The increased frequency, severity, and volatility of extreme weather affects the value of financial assets and borrowers' creditworthiness. The OCC is working to ensure banks understand climate change risk and that they develop a framework to measure, monitor and control those risks.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) is soliciting academic-focused papers and policy-focused research on climate risk in banking and finance for presentation to the OCC, June 6-7, 2022.
